Venice: Traveling Opera in a Historic Palace on Grand Canal

3. Venice: Traveling Opera in a Historic Palace on Grand Canal

Experience Italian Opera in one of the most important Venetian-Gothic style palaces in Venice, Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto. Within this historical venue, an innovative approach to opera has been conceived, with a formula that focuses on the interaction between the singers, the musicians, and the audience. This gives spectators the feeling of living Opera ‘from the inside’. This sensation is amplified by the clever 360-degree use of the ‘stage’ and by having the guests move through 3 different rooms within the Palazzo, one for each act of the show. The whole setting changes, not just the background. Reviving a tradition dating back to the late 1800s, this reimagining is brought to life by some of the finest lyrical voices, accompanied by a talented small group of strings and a piano: a virtuoso ensemble who performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Opera offered: • La Traviata - Melodrama in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi (Mon - Tue - Thu - Sat) • Il Barbiere di Siviglia - Light-hearted melodrama in two acts by Gioachino Rossini (Wed - Sun) • Rigoletto - Intense drama about love and vengeance by Giuseppe Verdi (Fri)

We went to the show expecting a starter, main and dessert but got a whole lot more- soup, starter, 3 main courses and dessert! My husband had the seafood and loved it, I had the vegetarian and it was also lovely! The show was brilliant! Lots of variety and mainly performed in English! The staff were all really friendly and accommodating, called us a taxi at the end of the night when we asked for 1! I would love to go again to be honest, it really was a brilliant night and well worth the money! They could charge more and I’d happily pay it!

The travelling opera was something completely different to anything I’d ever done before and it was incredible! The staff were friendly, the performers were great and moving from room to room for each scene was a fantastic idea to bring opera to people who in our case had never experienced it before! Myself and my husband had a great time!

Schnell Termin mit Zeitfenster gebucht, da das Wetter schlecht wurde. Konnte an der Schlange der Wartenden problemlos vorbeigehen, musste nicht anstehen. Super!

Good to know that even with advance tickets, there is likely to be a line, although it moves fairly quickly.

Really great concert with some hugely talented younger members!
