The name of this monastery is translated as the "Monastery of the Cross." Jvari Monastery is the 6th-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta. Along with other historic structures of Mtskheta, it is listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Jvari Monastery stands on the rocky mountain top at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta, which was formerly the capital of the kingdom of Iberia. The last site on tour is Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta. UNESCO recognizes Mtskheta as a World Heritage site due to its historical significance and several cultural monuments. It was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Svetitskhoveli is known as the burial site of Christ's robe and has been one of the principal Georgian Orthodox churches and is among the region's most venerated places of worship.

In the morning, our guide will meet you at the meeting point and you will start a tour of beautiful natural monuments near Kutaisi! First, you will visit Martvili Canyon, enjoying views of the mountain river, natural stone bridges & waterfalls. One of the top highlights at Martvili Canyon is the boat ride in the turquoise river, where you'll enjoy close views of the canyon & maybe spot fishes in the clear river water. Note: Boat service doesn't work if the water level is too high or the currents are too strong, usually it could happen in spring or after heavy rain. You will continue by car to the Okatse Canyon, where you will hike approximately 2.5 km from the ticket office to the canyon entrance, on a stone paved road through Duke's Dadiani forest. You will walk 900 steps on a panoramic hanging bridge & enjoy views of nature, especially in the spring and summer seasons, surrounded by lush green forest. After taking beautiful photos and short rest on the panoramic bridge, you will continue hiking back 2.5 km approximately to the car. Note: You can rent a 4x4 vehicle for an extra fee from the visitor center to the canyon entrance if you don't wish to hike, but will have to wait for the rest of the group at the visitor center. You will take the car to the spectacular Prometheus cave, where you will walk in a beautiful stalactite and stalagmite cave on an easy 1,5-kilometer route with impressive natural halls, here the group will be accompanied by the local guide, who will tell us in detail about the cave. Absolutely fantastic experience. We were picked up from our hotel by Khatuna in her very comfortable and clean car. Tour was exactly as described in the offer. We visited wine factory, tried delicious bread and cheese, visited a old fortress, went to the monastery and had beautiful lunch with the breathtaking view in city of love. Our experience was unforgettable because of Khatuna. We felt safe with her and were treated like her old friends. She has incredible knowledge about history and georgian culture. Most important She gave us an unlimited freedom during this trip. If you want to go for a wine tour in georgia and cannot decide who to choose - think no more - call Khatuna and you will have your best day in georgia with her. I am giving her 5 stars only because I cannot give 6.
