What an incredible experience! Wow. We are so glad we ended up with this one! It was a very full day and truly nothing was left out. Our first stop was a Battery where we got to go inside the bunkers and learn about battle area there. There are still in tact cannons from DDay inside some of the bunkers which was crazy to witness. We then went to Omaha Beach, and and got to spend some time walking the area after our guide shared the history there. Afterwards we went to Point Du Hoc where the US Rangers climbed the ocean cliffs in order to take control of that stronghold. It was surreal to see the ground covered in huge divots where ally bombs were dropped. We stopped for lunch at a local Creperie, then spent time at the DDay Memorial and Cemetery. We ended with cider tasting at a local cider farm which was incredible and such a unique experience! Olivia, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and personable and her English was perfect. It was an experience we will never forget!
All staff was friendly and helpful, at least moderately fluent in English. All materials provided were easy to use and understand. In addition, when the tour time was changed due to early closure because of labor strikes all efforts were made to contact me. Our small group guide, Caroline, was very pleasant and knowledgable. Our group was provided a lot of information, and she noted any knowledge we had to add to future guided tours. As we were the last guided group of the day, the staff was patient as we finished our tour.
Great tour with a wonderful and knowledgable guide. The day is very long but well worth it if you don't have your own transportation to get to the Normandy area. The bus was comfortable, and I'm assuming for safety reasons, they switched drivers half way through the trip, loved this! Thank you for a wonderful day and the education to boot!!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a wealth of information about the Catacombs which you wouldn't otherwise get. Additionally I really enjoyed seeing the limited access areas of the tour which were available by tour guide only. Would highly recommend this Tour to anyone interested in seeing the Catacombs.
Fred was a fantastic guide and patiently answered all our questions, which stretched the tour for nearly an hour longer than planned. He is well-informed, witty and engaging. We learned a lot about the cemetery, French history and many other topics.
