The guides the ship uses are intellectuals, fountains of knowledge, but their English is extremely difficult to understand. It is not conversational, but formal and stilted. They think it is useful to bombard you with dates and the details of various regimes. A good guide will weave a narrative that will capture your interest and give you a feel for what you are seeing and what it meant to those who built it as well as those who inhabit the area today.
